Recientemente la Asociación ha recibido información sobre la detención de un buque aproximadamente a 50 millas de Angola después de una operación STS.

Todos los buques que intervengan en operaciones STS hasta una distancia de 200 millas de la
costa de Angola deben presentar una notificación a la armada angoleña.

La notificación debe incluir los siguientes datos:

  • Nombre y número OMI de los buques que intervienen en la operación STS;
  • Fecha estimada de la operación STS;
  • Lugar; y
  • Especificación del producto y cantidad que se transferirá

Después de que se haya enviado la notificación, la armada angoleña deberá confirmar
recepción de la misma y conceder permiso para la operación STS. No se debe iniciar ninguna
transferencia sin esta aprobación.

Al término de la operación el buque (o sus Propietarios o Fletadores) deberá presentar a la
Armada una Declaración de Hechos en relación con la operación.

Los buques que no cumplan con estos requisitos corren el riesgo de ser detenidos y que se les
impongan fuertes multas.

The Club has recently been advised of a ship being arrested after an STS operation around 50 miles off Angola.

All vessels engaged in STS operations up to 200 miles from Angolan coast are required to submit a notification to the Angolan navy.

The notification should include the following details:

  • Name and IMO Number of the vessels engaged in the STS operation;
  • Estimated date of the STS operation;
  • Place; and
  • Product name and quantity to be transferred

After the notification is sent, the Angolan navy should confirm its receipt and grant permission for the STS operation. No transfer should commence without approval.

Upon completion of the operation, the vessel (or her Owners or Charterers) must submit a Statement of Facts in respect of the operation to the Navy.

Ships which do not comply risk arrests and heavy fines.
